Comments
Comments: Out-and-back. Shaw trail, green and red blazed Italian trail, and Big ball mountain trail. No spikes required. Very dry trail except a short stretch near the beginning of the Italian trail.

It is easy to step around or over the few icy patches. I did not go on the Black snout spur towards Mt Shaw, but it appeared to still have snow cover.

The Italian trail crosses a few logging roads. After leaving the Shaw trail, continue straight at the 1st intersection. Eventually you hit a logging road where you turn left at a cairn and go uphill for about 30 feet. Then you need to leave the logging trail by finding a foot path on the right. The tree with the red blaze is down there, but is propped up on its side by a cairn. After that, it is easy to follow the trails by looking at the ground or at appropriately placed blazes or cairns. (Thanks to the maintainers).

In the Winter, trail-finding could be hard, though, due to many of the cairns and blazes being low.

Only saw other people on the trail once and we gave each other wide berth.
