Trail was only broken out halfway to the summit, maybe to 2,300’ elevation. Looks like a few people had attempted it since Friday’s dump of snow, but they lost the trail a lot and eventually gave up. We only had one pair of snowshoes between the two of us, so we had to turn back, as the postholing in 2+ feet of mush would have been terrible even if we packed it good. Saw 3 other people out with snowshoes coming up behind us, but they didn’t seem too confident about being able to break the trail out much further. Gorgeous day out, nevertheless! |
