Comments: As we work on chipping away on this NH 500 Highest List we’ve only ran into one other person while out bushwhacking. So, I guess you can say we’ve been social distancing for a while now.

As we started up the powerline access road we very quickly ran into “no trespassing signs for any purpose”. These signs had been placed by an owner / residence of Ore Hill Road. We turn around, went back to Ore Hill Road, followed it west past the powerlines and entered the woods as there was no signage there.

We started bushwhacking south in 3” of new snow dropping in elevation to cross over a flowing stream. Once over we start climbing in open woods at easy grade. At roughly 1700 feet of elevation we turned southwest to avoid dropping down into some drainage and also heading toward the north running ridge of the summit. Soon enough the grade got a little steeper but not too bad, the woods got thicker and the snow started getting deeper anywhere from 8 to 12 inches. Once things leveled off there were several frozen over swampy area and several bumps and soon enough we hit the recognized high point. After signing in we retraced our tracks bac to the truck.

Sentinel Mountain has two large bumps that are very close in elevation, but the western bump is higher. Now the western bump has several bumps within that area, so you’ve got to find the recognized high point which is on the southern end.
