A full afternoon of exploring Epsom Town Forest, including a hike up to Neville Peak, bushwhacking to the beaver pond tucked into the col between Neville and Fort Mountain, and visiting an off-trail waterfall.
A mixed bag of conditions again today. Tarlton Rd. was the muddiest, with some active ATV traffic. Also a lot of mud along the ATV road that Neville Ridge Trail follows down from the summit. Otherwise, things were mainly dry with some puddles and minor mud. We added in some bushwhacks to the beaver pond and then onto Mill Pond during the return trip. Behind the summit of Neville, we ran into two guys who were re-clearing an ATV trail.
This area was fairly busy today, but I wouldn't say crowded. We started our hike late enough so we only really passed others near the beginning. A beautiful day out there today with bright sun and cool temps. |
