TLDR: 12-15" OF FRESH SNOW... 24"+ DRIFTS. WEAR YOUR SNOWSHOES FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.
A fine but tough day. Definately earned it today! We spiked/booted to the first water crossing and from there it was enough snow to warrant snowshoes, and they stayed on until we reached the same point at the end of the day. Some melting/compaction has occured through the day. We broke trail up until the C-M Junction, about 12-15" and drifts much higher. Well over my knee. Two steps forward, one step back type of day. At the junction, Professor Biscuits and 3 hoomans appeared and were like a gift sent from Joe Dodge. He must be bored all alone in the Ravines so he's taking pity on people. We rode Biscuit's hoomans tracks to the summit. It's scrappy in some sections but there is so much snow up there the signs are just barely visible. On the way down the sun came out, but still a TON of snow on the trees. You have tons of snowbombs to look forward to tomorrow!
You absolutely need snowshoes people, wear them or stay home. |
