| Comments: |
Sunscreen recommended. Hadn't done this one from Breezy Point before. Low elevations wet as expected and mud tolerable. Then came patches of snow which became full snow at the junction of the upper Hurricane trail. From there (as it was a cold night and things froze and were firm in the AM) microspikes to the summit worked well. No melting up high and bony areas with ice on the ridge and summit. Descended same path and from the S.Peak, Glencliff, Carriage junction it was a lovely snowshoe descent. Things had softened so spikes and bare boots would chew it up a bit, (or a lot). There is still a decent snowpack of 3-4 feet in many areas up high. 11.25 mile out and back from where you can park. ~3350 ft of elevation gain. |
