Microspikes definitely recommended.
Snowshoes not really needed at this point, we didn't have them, but some people might appreciate.
Lots of people hiking up with skis and snowboards and then heading over to the Waterville downhill trails. Many of them didn't have traction, which looked frustrating. But that seemed like a really cool thing to do.
