Comments
Comments: From vehicle we followed snomo corridor 144 south to snomo corridor 20 to a point WSW of Prospect Mountain. Bw directly to Prospect Mt. mostly following the ridge to the recognized high point.
Two show-stopping cliff bands were quickly and easily bypassed by circling to the N.
Surface conditions on 100% snow cover: hard, almost icy on the snomo trails; no breaking on bw with low flotation snowshoes
vegetation: open to wide open woods, very little scratchy woods, no fir bands or sprucy areas
grades: all easy, with 2 short moderate stretches when bypassing cliff bands.
We retraced our route to corridor 20 and then along corridor 144 to 2200' where we started the bw NW to Beaman Hill. We started the bw a bit too soon resulting in having to cross a free flowing brook. Nice views from recognized high point. Register is signed by both hikers and snowmobilers. From summit, we bw W back to corridor 144 and then to vehicle.
bw surface conditions on 100% snow: max 2" breaking on a surface starting to be affected by the sun
vegetation: wide open hardwoods, clearcuts
grades: all easy
