Comments
Comments: The trail to Lonesome Lake is solid, stable hardpacked snow. Very little ice. The Lake is still solid and provides a great viewpoint of Franconia Ridge. Fishin' Jimmy was, in general, stable snow. There were several very steep icy sections that required great care to navigate. The Ridge trail was mostly packed snow, with very little ice and a few off-trail postholes. In general, trail is very fast and firm. Wore microspikes car-to-car. Saw one person in snowshoes, but I think it would be very difficult to stay upright on the icy sections in anything but micros or crampons. It was a great day to be out!
