Comments
Comments: Fresh coat of snow and previous melting made tracks tough to see on the two bushwhacks. I veered of course a few times but corrected my mistakes on the way back. My tracks should make it easier for the next person. Trail was hard packed on way in - micro spikes up until Brutus whack where I needed some extra traction. Crampons would work but I opted for snowshoes just cus they were easy to get to and my crampons are Hillsound Trailpro. Ice axe would have also been nice in this section, especially coming down, my poles and some extra caution were doing the job though. Coming back on BO whack route I had switched back to spikes but started to posthole, thanks to the work of the sun softening snow a bit. Plus the snow was stickier at this time causing snowballs on spikes. Frustrated, I put snowshoes back on and and left them on until black Pond trail where I barebooted the rest of the way. Owl is never easy, and this was no exception, but glad to git er done!! W37!! Woo Hoo!!
