Comments
Comments: the road was hard packed by snowmobiles and i started off booting it. i walked until shortly past the gate with the notable "persona non grata" sign and turned right onto an old woods road shown on the usgs as a dashed line. the snow was solid and supportive with snowshoes. this shortly joined a snowmobile trail where i turned left. coverage was thin in spots, but generally full. as the trail approached the brook i turned right uphill onto another woods/logging road which began climbing. some bare stretches of ground, but for the most part enough snow for good snowshoeing. i continued on the road up past a notable small brook crossing then used a series of old skid roads to continue up towards the saddle of bald and whittier. it took a bit of maneuvering to stay on snow for a short bit, but as i bushwhacked up towards the col the coverage was really good and supportive. from the saddle there was a bit of bare ground then more good solid snow to the summit and recognized highpoint. for the most part i returned in my tracks.
