Trails: Cook Hill Road, unnamed trail

Date of Hike: Monday, March 16, 2020
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at a plowed out spot at the HOL on Cook Hill Road. We didn't know it at the time but there is another 'bump out' about .3 of a mile farther down the road with room for at least 3 vehicles. We just walked a little more that necessary but hey, it's all about being out in the fresh air and enjoying the day.

Comments
Comments: We followed the reports of both Lady B and Beth Z (Thanks to both of you). Walking up beyond the gated end of Cook Hill Rd and opting to go in a counter-clockwise direction made for a very easy and enjoyable route. the snow was crusty in the shade and beginning to soften where exposed to the sun. Light traction was the best choice today, near future conditions will depend on the predicted rain/snow coming tomorrow. The cellar holes were very interesting and if you are on the road and the large hole is on your right you will need to make a sharp left to continue on this farm road. The trail was easy to follow through the recently logged area at the top of the first bump but may become slightly more difficult as the snow melts completely but if one were to enter and go directly across the open area to the base of the peak and enter the woods you shouldn't have any problems finding the continuation of the trail. From the summit we decided to continue over and down the other side of the peak and this brought us back to the road about 200 yards from the gate. A very nice day.
