Comments
Comments: The sun warmed up the snow and made it mushy, but it was still a beautiful day out. The high winds were not a problem, as we were in the trees all day. The sun kept us warm in mostly base layers. We found this to be a tough hike that was well worth it. At first we weren't sure about the Black Pond bushwhack, as there were only two sets of footprints leading the way, but we didn't have any better ideas, so we trusted it and it turned out well. Now there is a more identifiable path that I hope will be easier for folks to follow during the next few days. The Brutus bushwhack was much easier to find and follow. Crazy steep! We wore spikes on Lincoln Woods and snowshoes on all other trails (Well, one of us may have switched to trail crampons on the Brutus descent because they were scared to butt slide uncontrollably in snow shoes. They are very sorry for the three postholes they left behind).
