Comments
Comments: Spring hiking came early it seems! We left our snowshoes in the car and used spikes all day. We barebooted the XC Trail and the road as there was minimal snow on the ground. Lower portion of Gale River Trail is a mess with lots of soft snow and running water in the trail. Trails are hard packed and solid beyond that. We were crossing a snow bridge on one of the smaller crossings half way up the trail and it collapsed under us. Garfield Ridge and Frost Trail were packed nicely and we had no issues. On the decent, lots of minor postholing due to soft snow and trying to avoid water.
