Comments
Comments: I don't usually post the same day and same hike as another hiker posted but I needed to reinforce a point BrettSki made.
First of all he is spot on with the great description. I went up after him at 10:00.
The point I want to make is that the luge that he described has certain sections that are very slick and my micros were marginal at best on the descent.
The ascent went fine, but upon descending the steeps, I let my guard down for a second as I was looking down the trail and instantly I was horizontal and gaining speed down the slick luge towards the trees.
If I was going to descend ammo tomorrow, I would consider crampons. It is a bit much for certain sections, but, for the icy steep luge sections, it is better to be safe.
Of course, conditions might change soon, but in the short term, I would take crampons and micros.
