Shoulder season on this south facing trail.
First half of the trail was mainly snow/ice free, though there were a few wall to wall patches of blue ice (in the gully above the bridge for instance). Above there, the trail was mainly a blue ice footbed surrounded by spring snow. Southern facing slopes are melting, but otherwise there was about a foot of snow at elevation.
I wore Microspikes on the upper half, though they were a little iffy in a few places. |
