The lower pine forest is quite icy. There are patches of ground to bypass the icy parts on the way down. Going up was not a problem with microspikes. Where there is snow the trail is packed but veer even a little off the trail and you'll sink into the snow about a foot. We only went to Pike's Peak. The trail is well-marked and easy to follow. The hike is a steep steady climb with some flatter stretches to give you a break before the next steep section. |
