Trail Maintenance Notes: WOW!!!!! I wondered, who uses this trail in winter? But then I got my answer - several blowdowns were so recently taken care of that the sawdust is fresh on the snow. Thanks WODC.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Plenty of streams for them. Please keep in mind that many of these trails in this area are allowed due to gracious landowners. Please respect their privacy.
Bugs
Bugs: Snow fleas, UFIs (unidentified flying insects).
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: my energy! Not really lost or found, but there was a note on the kiosk about a local rental. I was going to copy the #, but was so impressed with the moon that I drove off and forgot. If the poster sees this, maybe you could send us an email. Sounds better than spending the better part of an hour on the frost heaves of 113. Thanks

Comments
Comments: Started in spikes, which were good for Blueberry Ledge Trail. McCrillis Path was somewhat packed down, but we soon put on the shoes as I was sinking (we are Both Tractions Baystaters, not Mass microspikers). Very beautiful woodland walk. Evergreen sections, hardwood areas, pretty streams. There is a sign about halfway letting you know which direction the trail goes and that the property to the left is the Sacred Nectar Sanctuary. It was after this area that the trail was less obvious (looks like this is where maintenance may have stopped recently). But Prema has great "woods eyes," and we were able to follow it to where the Ambrose Nature Preserve and some houses are. The second half of the trail has a very pretty gorge.

Don't know why, but I was exhausted today and took forever to do this. But it was all for the best. The spectacular full moon for this month (closest to the earth this year) was rising above the trees near the open field next to the parking lot. Two weeks ago, I was treated to the most beautiful sunset and alpenglo ever, due to my slowness. This time it was the moonrise. Lucky me!
