| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked in ski area lot. With a late morning start, was able to park in lot near trailhead. ("Hikers hate to walk.") |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Spring Snow |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Two little stream crossings at start of trail were easily rock-hopped. Stream crossing about halfway up was well snow bridged. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
No blowdowns or serious leaners that I recall. Blazing could perhaps use some freshening. As noted in Becca M's report a few days ago, the sign at the lower Sosman Trail/ Mount Tecumseh Trail junction is missing. Other signage seemed okay. |

I opted to snowshoe (or as some would say, SNOWSHOE) for the whole route. There was one person who skinned up, one other snowshoer, and a few others were microspiking -- the trail seemed pretty firm, though the surface softened in the warm temperatures. Only about two little spots with some exposed ice, lower down on the trail. Very nice to run into Steve Smith, author of several hiking guides and owner of The Mountain Wanderer bookstore in Lincoln, on the summit. |
