Comments
Comments: It was a gorgeous day for a hike! The temperatures are rising, and with hardly any snowfall lately you could see the ground peeking through especially at the lower parts of the trail. The snow was nicely packed in the morning, but by the time we made our descent it was becoming like mashed potatoes. The top rocks are mostly exposed, with about a foot or two of packed snow where the trees are. This is an easy trail, especially for new winter hikers and great for families or anyone looking for a quick hike. It took us about an hour and a half to ascent and less than hour to get down. Traction is a good idea -- especially with the snow getting mushier and more slippery in the warm sunlight. Snowshoes seemed like overkill on the way up, so we opted for spikes on the way down. The surrounding area was mostly melted, and only some snow is left in the higher elevations. Hoping for a few more good snowfalls before the end of the season!!!
