| Comments: |
The views were glorious and the trail conditions were the best we have seen in the past month. We were in spikes, as were all other hikers except several with Hillsound crampons. Champney Falls Trail is hard packed with a smooth track all the way to the final summit push up Chocorua. We encountered minor drifting and post-holing between Middle and First Sister. Champney Falls Loop is also well packed, but the stairs leading back up are covered with ice -- we got up okay, but I wouldn't want to try to go down the steps. |
