Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Nothing on my trek today
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Two downed trees, just high enough to not get under with full pack, just high enough to get the legs reeeeal high to step over. The second down, nearest the Hut I sat on and rotated my bum over using trekking poles to stabilize.. gotta get creative sometimes!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: One pup heading up Lafayette, poor thing didn't seem to have enough hair to stay warm in those 40+mph winds, I left mine home today.
Bugs
Bugs: Not a thing.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing to mention.

Comments
Comments: Someone post-holed the heck out of the trail above Eagle Cliff and then it froze solid, so with that.. my Tubbs went for a ride as I used the frozen post holes as steps up the grade. Hillsounds were perfect all day, crampons would have been great for the usual blown over section just prior to topping out on Lafayette.. otherwise I would have been tripping over the spikes, I think!

All in all, fantastic day to be out playing in the snow again on a bluebird day. Snow began to get loose/sticky around 10:30/11am as I cruised down. Basically today was a recon to scope out Eagle Cliffs for later spring/summer, anyone want to join - email me!

I don't think snowshoes will be needed on this trail until we get 6+ inches of fresh powder, if I thought I could have broken down some of the post holes, I would have tried.. but given the narrow trail, I would have only snapped an ankle - spikes worked great. Have fun out there and keep those puppy dogs toasty! ;)

Happy climbing!
