Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossings on Ammo were all hoppable, although the upper one was a little interesting due to the snow bank on the opposite bank. The crossing of Clay Brook on the Boundary Line trail was accomplished via a log across the stream, just up river from the crossing.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Ammo was clean. Jewell had a number of blowdowns up high and many more down low between the Cog spur and the summer trailhead. Boundary Line also had a handful.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw quite a few today enjoying a beautiful, almost summer-like day.

Comments
Comments: Climbed Ammo in microspikes with no problem-the snow was still in pretty good shape. Also wore spikes up Monroe but for the most part they were overkill and succeeded in just beating them up. Apart from an occasional patch of snow, the Camel & Davis Path's were nearly snow free.

From the last part of Davis all the way to the Clay spur, the trail was filled with ice but there were enough rocks sticking out not to warrant traction.

The skier activity was heavy in the Great Gulf (skiers definaely out numbered hikers today)-saw several down at the bottom and probably 20+ looking for routes down the headwall. Wish I had seen someone actually making a run.

Jewell below treeline was a real mess. The very narrow monorail was deteriorating quickly. There were some truly epic postholes. What a difference a week makes, as last Friday this trail was great. Oddly enough, about half a mile in the middle was completely snow free.

The Boundary Line trail was about 70% snow free, most of it coming after the crossing of Clay Brook to the Notch Rd. It was also a quagmire after the crossing. What an awesome day to be above treeline!
