i parked in a plowed pull off on washburn road in alexandria .6 miles east of the four corners. i had not noted any particularly good parking closer to 4 corners and the start of the snomo trail so decided to bushwhack up from here and intercept the trail as i was already parked to hike hutchins. will note that roads in this area are getting into spring condition and were a bit rutted and muddy. washburn did get some grading done while out in the woods and was in better shape. |

brook right at the start of the bushwhack up from washburn road had good rocks for hopping. |

after crossing the brook i headed up in wide open hardwoods and mostly supportive snow to intercept the snowmobile trail a short distance below where it wraps around braley hill. from there to the summit was packed, if wet, snowmobile trails all the way up to the summit. lots of snowshoe tracks visible from folks up there recently. descended the same way with a bit more punching through on the bushwhack. |
