 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
For those hiking in the Evans Notch area, Route 113 is its usual solid frost heaves and bumps! A few quite nasty so it is wise to keep the speed down to avoid flying! For winter trail head - Take stone house road which quickly turns into shell pond road - first stretch is also snowmobile trail. Parking is at a gate 1/10 mile in or at a little spot cleared along the snowmobile track - head past the gate and down the road for 0.9 mile to get to the summer parking. Start of loop 0.3 miles down the road past the summer gate. |

 | Comments: |
Quick little hike today around a great pond. For those in the area it is an easy loop with great views of the area's peaks from a viewpoint on the far side of the pond and the stretch of trail that walks along the airstrip. With the rain earlier, road walk and trail were all solid today no need for snowshoes. Traction was helpful in a spot or two but boots would be just fine. |
