Comments
Comments: Read Saturday's trail report for Owl's Head and decided I'd take a crack at it. I hit the trail by 8:30ish and almost immediately met the author of the inspiring report (The Teal Goat and a merry band of hikers). They invited me to join their group and we made good-time to Brutus Buschwack. At that point, I shifted into super slow mode while they motored up the steeps. As has been stated previously, the trails to Owl are in remarkably good condition. Solid monorail all the way. The Bushwacks are easy to follow, though Brutus winds its way between fir trees so keep your head down and expect lots of branches yanking on your jacket and pack. Spikes are fine until Brutus and then you'll definitely want to break out the snowshoes. Televators will make the ascent a lot easier. Anyway, big thanks to TealGoat, Rhonda, and the rest ...
