Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: on pike hill road in newport i drove up through the sand pit then up the next hill where there was good plowed parking on the side of the road. if using pike hill road for the approach there is little advantage to driving beyond this point as the plowed way soon splits off and turns south. it is also fairly icy. a little rough and rutted getting through the sand pit section of road and some ice on the small uphill to where i parked.

Comments
Comments: i booted up the plowed section of pike hill road turning right onto the rock hard snowmobile packed road beyond the fork where the plowed road turns south. some icy sections where water has run over the trail. once i got around wilcox hill proper i took a line south right at the summit of south wilcox. hard supportive snow conditions made for fast bushwhacking through the open woods. i took advantage of an old woods road for a bit then headed up hill more steeply to the summit and recognized highpoint where an atv trail and flagged line were both prominent. i descended in my tracks.
