From the parking I walked the trail leaving the parking lot to Half mile Pond Tr. The initial trail was well traveled, while Half Mile Pond had seen little recent use. Snow was very soft owed to warm temps. I skirted along the pond and began a bushwhack up to Prospect Hill. Halfway up, I hit bryan's obscured tracks from a couple weeks ago. His tracks were followable and made breaking easier. The highpoint is recognized. From the pond, I chose to take roads back, which did add some challenge in breaking. An old red blazed trail keeps you away from a private home, though said trail was hard to follow. Snowshoes are a must and breaking took some work due to the soft snow. |
