Lots of people going up to the hut and back. Solidly packed trail up to the hut. Wore snowshoes for. Carter Moriah trail and Carter Dome trail. The steep part of Carter Moriah shortly after the hut was, well, steep. Not sure what the best foot wear would be but i kept my snow shoes on. Poles were key for me. Others used spikes going up. I only saw them butt sliding down. Carter Dome trail is a much easier approach up and down. It looked kinda treacherous. Not as bad as Oceola but close. Lots of deep postholes on Carter Dome trail near the dome. |
