Comments
Comments: 19MBT was well packed down to the Carter Dome Trail junction so we used light traction and continued for about 1/3 more before switching to snowshoes for the rest of the day due to soft snow. As usual, 19MBT was a joy to hike. but then, OMG! The .7 mile from the junction of 19MBT/Wildcat Ridge to Wildcat A was a beast! We were following a single set of tracks until the tracks ended because s/he lost the trail and turned back. AHHHH! We attempted to bushwhack in hopes of finding the trail but gave up after about a half hour of hell. We backtracked back to the last known blaze and spent some time trying to figure out where the trail was. Success! If coming down from Wildcat A, you will have no problem but if going up from 19 MBT, go past the blaze, take a hard left (ignore all the mini trails to no where) and bear left again onto the true trail. Your welcome!
BTW, we met a couple coming down from an early morning hike. They told us that Zeta Pass was not broken out (as of this morning).
