 | Comments: |
We headed up from the Peobody parking lot for a sunset viewing expecting to trek on a hard packed, well-traveled trail, but alas, we were surprised to find ourselves postholing up to our mid-calves and knees most of the way up to the junction, where Bald splits left, in what appeared to be big snow drifts, most probably from the winds that were blowing yesterday. Snowshoes would have been extremely helpful and more efficient but not having brought them we had to bareboot through the deep snow as we tried to quickly make our way up to the summit to see the setting sun. So if you are expecting the same, don't! Plan ahead and come prepared with your snowshoes. Those who follow will thank you! |
