It seemed that Hale Brook had a lot of barebooters recently -- the sidehill was a postholed mess. Thankfully, everyone I saw today had snowshoes or skis so the trail was in much better shape on my way out. I recommend snowshoes as the trail is not well packed down – there were only about 8 people out today and I think most were heading over to Zealand/the hut so Hale Brook didn’t get a lot of return traffic. Zealand road is well packed out and an easy walk. |
