Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at Crawford Path trailhead lot (fee area; outhouses are open). One other car when I arrived about 7 AM, about two dozen when I left a little after noon. The lot and its access road had been plowed but were still a bit snowy. (There were a lot of cars parked along Route 302 by the Depot at midday; also, the Webster-Jackson lot was overflowing.)
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow - Drifts
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No significant, unbridged water crossings on this route.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I only recall one blowdown, not far from the trailhead. It was a duck-under. There were a few trees that were bent over the trail, weighed down by snow. Signage seemed okay. Blazing was not prominent, especially on the upper part of the trail.

Comments
Comments: Crawford Path had a good snowshoe track first thing in the morning, but that was divoted by many hikers without snowshoes. The roughest part is around treeline, where the snow is quite soft and drifted, and vulnerable to getting chopped up. Also, in this area, the tracked path was obvious today, but it would not take much drifting snow to fully obscure it.

The section of the route from the WCT/CP junction to the top of Pierce has a couple of tracked routes - either will work in fair weather, but this stretch is a bit windblown and crusty, and cairns are heavily rimed, and would be obscure in poor visibility. The summit cairn is entirely under snow.

The WCT toward Mizpah Hut appeared to be unbroken circa 10 AM. Also, about 10 AM, one hiker started to follow the Crawford Path toward Eisenhower, but was quickly deterred by knee-deep drifts (that was with snowshoes).
