Comments
Comments: Rocky Branch was a few inches on fresh snow on top of a stable base trail all the way up to the engine hill cutoff. You'll eventually get to a split with a tree with a T carved into it, this marks the beginning of the bushwack, stay on the path to the right to follow it. The left follows the actual trail, which appeared much less broken out. From here, the rest of the way is new snow no top of a solid base trail underneath, but enough that you'll still want snowshoes. The bushwack meanders a bit and splits off several times from itself. Basically anytime you get to a fork, stay to the right and you should be fine. It does get tight through some trees towards the end, but it's not too bad. Once back on the actual trails it opens back up. The snow isn't that deep as long as you stay on the trail, with the exception being the spur up to the summit. Here there were drifts waist deep which took some cardio to power through. Time was 5 hours in, 3 out.
