 | Comments: |
From parking spot, walked Bungy Rd. 0.6 mile to Champion Rd. Ungroomed Champion Rd. had recently been traveled by a snowmobile. We snowshoed this road 0.6 mile to groomed snomo trail.
Followed snomo trail 0.6 mile to logging road going East. Logging road appears as a double dashed line on topos.
Followed logging road a short while before bw SE toward ridge. Hit ridge at 2350'. Followed ridge to summit where we eventually found recognized high point among 3 possible contenders.
breaking conditions: generally 10-12" but occasionally higher.
grades - easy to moderate
vegetation density - wide open hardwoods to ridge. Ridge presented wide range of density: wide open woods, tighter large spruce/fir with snow laden branches, a few tighter scratchy spots, no sprucy areas. Wide open summit.
Avoiding the ridge top and opting for the open hard woods at a slightly lower elevation might have been easier. |
