Comments
Comments: This loop is virtually snow free, aside from a few avoidable trivial patches in the shade in lower elevations. Took Orange Trail to avoid the mucky first part of the Elwell. This segment and the Elwell Trail over the Sugarloaves are mostly dry with a few avoidable wet/muddy/slippery spots. Per Becca's recommendation, I went to Goose Pond as well. I should have taken the trail in the Sugarloaf Col to the pond, as the White Trail off Sugarloaf was mediocre at best - basically a logging road with some muddy areas and a tricky water crossing. The Green and Orange Trails were both in decent shape. Pond was excellent, with geese and a beaver putting on quite a show.
