Comments: SNOWSHOES SNOWSHOES SNOWSHOES!

1-3" fresh snow overnight, great texture. Folks had been up the day before, nice track laid out with a good base. New snow made snowshoes a necessity, especially in the higher elevations. Snow on the ridge was decently deep and there were a few drifts. We started in the morning before 9 and didn't see anyone until we got to the view point. Snowboarders had some down through the old CCC trails and were heading out through the view point trail. Our tracks had been filled in by another couple inches of falling snow while we were out and looked almost invisible. We saw three barebooters (2 and 1) on our way down after the largest crossing. They all had very small packs and no snowshoes. We told them about the deep snow above, as well as the soft conditions, but they decided to carry on...tearing up what track and base was there. Hope they at least made it out safely.

Selected postholes in conditions only because the barebooters continued on ahead, leaving plenty of divers in their wake.
