|
| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Lot not plowed, but by the end of the day it was fairly packed down. It'd be a bit iffy in a front-wheel drive car, but probably do-able. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable) |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All covered. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A number of bent over trees with some branches to the face, but not a big deal. One blowdown that required a bit of crouching. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Only saw one, seemed okay. |
|
| Bugs: |
None. |

| Comments: |
I wore snowshoes all day, mainly because I didn't want to switch on/off with microspikes.
The Mount Kinsman Trail was well-packed to the junction with Bald Peak (microspikes sufficient).
On the Mount Kinsman Trail from Bald Peak to the junction with the Kinsman Ridge Trail, snowshoes recommended. It's packed down, but still soft, and microspikes will sink in and tear it up a bit.
The Kinsman Ridge Trail from the junction with the Mount Kinsman Trail to South Kinsman is a highway. |
