Comments
Comments: Very excited to get back up for a full day of winter conditions on the trails. Sub zero temps to start at the motel lot, we carried our snowshoes until crossing the private property bridge, then put them on for the duration of the hike. People had hiked Hale via fire wardens the day before and another couple attempted north Twin yesterday too, so the trails we decent until about 1.5 miles from north Twin. We continued the breaking and we were pretty close to the first good viewpoint when we heard our friend , Rhonda and 3 others behind us. The drifts were getting deeper here so there was much rejoicing. 6 sets of snowshoes are better than 2. We got to north Twin summit and were thrilled to see the trail leading to south was broken out. We all continued to south, very icy and windy summit, and then down to Galehead hut. Dropped packs and headed up Galehead. Some were saying you could use spikes here but the snow was still a bit soft and we all opted for snowshoes. Snowshoes were the best choice in my option for the whole day. Loads of fresh beautiful powder finally !
