Comments
Comments: {NOTE: Snowshoes or skis are REQUIRED on the groomed Waterville ski trail system} Snowshoes were appropriate once I got off of the groomed portion of Livermore Trail, and necessary for Scaur Ridge Trail and above.

There was 4-6in of fresh powder over a breakable crust up to about the top of Scaur Ridge trail. Looked like 1-2ft total snow depth. Above Scaur Ridge Trail, the snow was a bit deeper.

As of when I was coming down in the early afternoon, the only tracks on Scaur Ridge trail were my own, so that trail is only partially broken (one pass with snow shoes going up, one pass going down). I was very happy with my choice to take the gentler Scaur Ridge route rather than the North Slide trail. There was considerable traffic on Pine Bend Brook trail, at least from North Tripyramid summit to the Scaur Ridge junction, and that trail was well broken (but still soft enough to want snowshoes). The trail was only partially broken along the ridge between North Tripyramid and Middle Tripyramid.
