Did this one with Colin, Ellie, and Cesar. When we arrived at the Pine Bend Trailhead there were two cars already there, and we would learn there were three sets of snowshoes ahead of us. The road is being plowed wide to allow parking on the south (trail) side of Route 302. Despite the trail being packed well down low, when we hit the steep section up the gully we encountered soft and unconsolidated snow....two steps up, one step back. We managed to pack it down a little more and then there were a few more that followed after us.
The track between the summits was fast and the trip back down to our cars was equally fast. One person had come up to both summits and returned using Scaur Trail and Livermore Trail and a friend was going to venture out and try to visit Scaur. It looks like a lone bare-booter came up to the ridge using Sabbaday Brook Trail - it looks like they only went to Middle Tripyramid though. There were no prints heading towards South Tripyramid. The track should firm up overnight and be ready for more people to visit tomorrow. |
