Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking lot was unplowed but there was plenty of room to park on the shoulder. I was easily 18” inside the white line. When I came down after the hike there was an SUV that had gotten stuck trying to pull into the parking lot.

Comments
Comments: Beautiful but very very cold day. I think I saw a total of about ten people on the trail, most in snowshoes or skis. There is so little snow below about 2000 feet that it’s already pretty well packed. Above that it’s deeper and very loose and powdery. Definitely bring snowshoes.

Watch out for snowmobiles on Gale River Road in the last quarter mile before the trailhead.
