Comments
Comments: We set out with the goal of getting both of the Twins, but we ended up with a nice snowshoe hike in the woods. There was a group of 3 who started the same time as us, but they were headed up the Fire Warden Trail to Hale. They broke out the snowmobile trail, haystack road, and north twin trail to that point. After that it was all us breaking trail through 4-6 inches of fresh snow with substantially higher amounts in some spots due to major drifting. We created a track on the bushwhack to avoid two crossings (make sure to stay left at the first crossing and ignore the blazes). Third water crossing had patches of water flowing, but we walked right across with no issues. Heading up past the crossing, the trail was much more drifty and had lots of snow. We were exhausted from breaking trail and ultimately decided to turn around at around ~3,500 feet, about a mile away from the summit. Emily was also having an issue with her leg which only got worse as we pushed on.

So, a majority of the North Twin Trail is broken out until 3,500 feet. We were only two sets of snowshoe tracks. Snowshoes will still be 100% necessary due to the blowing snow that filled in a majority of our track on the way down. We’ll be back for revenge another time!
