Last of the Squam range for me. #128 for the NH Highest 500. I followed Brian and Mary's track beginning at the old stone wall at the lower end of the Wentworth Trail, banged a left and followed their tracks straight to the summit. It was a smart line. No nonsense.
I used snowshoes initially up to the base of the summit cone, then bare-booted it to the summit. On the descent I opted to donn the hillsound spikes for speed, keeping them on all the way back. Without spikes you may have to butt-sled down a few scrambles. I honestly wouldn't bother with snowshoes as of today... It's a highway. |
