 | Date of Hike: |
Saturday, February 1, 2020 |
|
 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
No problems. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable) |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Water crossings were easily passable with snow bridges, but late in the day they started to get a bit unstable. I think too many more warm days and they might become a problem. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A couple blow downs were easy to get around. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Didn’t see any dogs all day. |
|
 | Bugs: |
None. |
|
 | Lost and Found: |
We found an item, but we also found the owner. |

 | Comments: |
The temperature got above freezing as the day wore on and some postholing started happening. Stony Brook was more solid than Carter-Moriah, as the latter had some loose snow. I would definitely recommend that if the temperatures stay high, bring snowshoes as the solidity of the snowpack will start to break down. |
