Have to use an overused word to describe this day = Epic! Ammo was beautiful, packed and firm going up and soft coming down. Crawford was perfect, no ice and soft enough to get traction without sinking. Near the summit it was a little deeper and softer but still super. Micro spikes and poles all the way without any regrets. Crampons would have been a little better going down the ravine to Gem Pool but otherwise spikes were fine. Leave the shoes in the car. Summit winds were 15 MPH! Sunny and warm! No clouds! 100 mile visibility! Did I say epic? |
