Picture perfect day- clear skies, zero wind. You’ll never find a better example of a blue bird day in the Whites!
Trail was beautiful, one could easily bareboot but I wanted to give my new snow shoes a maiden voyage on a smaller peak before taking them to one of the big ones. They stayed on the entire trek. There are a couple steep sections right before the summit of Avalon, but no issues, didn’t run into any ice.
I met a few friendly folks out, although I had the summit to myself for a solid 20-30 minutes.
Gorgeous views, especially for such a short, easy climb. This peak would be a great introduction to winter hiking for someone starting out.
