Comments: Nineteen Mike Brook Trail, Wildcat Ridge Trail

The hike in on the 19 Mile Brook Trail was well packed all the way to the junction of the Wildcat Ridge Trail. We decided to stick with micro spikes and had only a little trouble in a couple of snowdrifts, otherwise they were perfect. The only section we didn’t care for was the steep side hill at the slide section but careful steps made it safe. I’m pretty sure that most of our track will be erased by more wind and drifting in a short time. Snowshoes with televators might be hand on the steep section up to the summit.
There is a section about half way to the summit on the ridge trail where someone had gone straight which was the wrong way. We quickly realized we were following the wrong tracks and turned around to find the right trail. At that point we added more sticks to try to block the wrong way. Turning left here, there is a tall dead stump that will indicate you are going the right way.
Arriving at the summit the views were...nonexistent, well, actually we could just make out the pond near the hut. But it didn’t matter, we were happy to get this one done and enjoyed the quick descent back down, “skiing” on our micro spikes. Another fabulous day in the Whites!
