A mix of everything on these trails today. Snow all morning added a nice 2-3" layer on the 2-3" that was there on the crust already - a winter wonderland!!!! Up to about 2500' trail was very rough - very difficult to travel and tedious at times. Once above 2800' or so, a GREAT firm surface for excellent snowshoeing. No evidence of travel across the ridge and my snowshoe prints were swallowed up almost immediately by the blowing snow. Quite impressive wind blasts and stinging snow/frozen rain on Liberty. On the way back from Flume I bushwhacked around the summit of Liberty to avoid the exposure. Only saw 1 person/dog combo all day when I was almost down. A soaker despite the snow!!! A GREAT day to finish April!!! |
