Parked at Liberty Springs Trailhead. Lot was thoroughly plowed. Beautiful conditions to the summits of Liberty then Flume. Did the whole thing in microspikes.
I decided to go down the Flume Slide Trail as I have never been on it. Big mistake. Others had used it enough to make it easy to find, but it was not packed down. There were lots of short opportunities to butt slide, but the routes were quite narrow compared to butt slide runs like those I recently encountered on the Osceolas (Jan 8) and the Hancocks (Jan 18). So there were many opportunities to get hung up on branches etc. Deep and heavy snow covered most butt slides but I occasionally found myself going over the brow of steep water ice cliff-lets and going too fast for safety. The upshot is that it took me about 1.7 hours to descend the 0.3 miles that was most steep. Only take this trail down if you are a masochist and willing to risk injury. From what I saw, only go up if you are looking for one heck of a workout.
